CleanTech
We define “CleanTech” very broadly to include alternative energy generation and project infrastructure, transmission smart grid technologies, recycling, energy efficiency, materials sciences, clean chemicals and environmental protection and remediation technologies. CleanTech also incorporates a myriad of emerging products and services such as demand response, energy sourcing and management programs and carbon finance.
The secular adoption of CleanTech products and services will in our view, be one of the largest capital investment waves in the 21stCentury and possibly history. Yet OECD and many emerging markets remain disconnected with respect to the development of markets for the scale up of new more environmentally sound products and services.
The tipping point for rapid growth and adoption will be found at the intersection of high commodity prices (and convergence of energy supply markets), high carbon/externality pricing, continued technology development (with a declining cost curve) and public policy incentives and regulatory initiatives that will encourage switching investments.
Torch combines skills and perspective at this intersection. We work with a variety of CleanTech companies where we have acted as agency advisors on venture stage financings, strategic advisors on larger scale projects and merger advisors where we connect new emerging companies and technologies with large stake holders who seek next generation growth opportunities.
We understand the strategic landscape and stakeholder issues and concerns - both offensive and defensive. We also have a deep level of experience across the firm with growth stage companies. We are constantly “connecting the dots” where new disruptive IP or service based concepts will displace or enhance market opportunities for incumbent operators and/or provide exceptional returns for investors.
