Telecity Group Case Study
2000-2004

Dot Com Bust

  • Company was a post-2000 “fallen angel”, market value went from >£1bn to a few tens of millions over a two year period
  • Torch Partners first started working with 3i in 2003/04
2005

TeleCity Take Private

  • In mid-2005, 3i and Oak Hill took the business private for c.£60m
  • Torch Partners helped 3i bring Oak Hill into the situation for the first take private, on which we advised
2005/06

Redbus Take Private

  • Torch Partners then advised on the Redbus take private and the combination of the two businesses
  • At the time of the Redbus take private, we also helped raise mezzanine finance from Cerberus (and Oak Hill Advisors, the debt arm of Oak Hill)
2006

Globix Transaction & Refinancing

  • Torch Partners then advised on the acquisition of Globix UK and the raising of debt financing
2007

Successful IPO on the LSE

  • The assembled group was listed on the London Stock Exchange, in the largest technology sector float since 2002
  • Torch Partners advised Telecity on the IPO, which was led by Deutsche Bank and Citi
